2017 – 2018 Ice Fishing season is Wrap let the Fly Fishing season begin
Another Ice fishing season is in the bag. We would love to take this opportunity to thank the many clients we took Ice fishing this Winter. Clients from all over the World, from all nationalities came together to share our passion of Ice fishing. We caught a lot of quality fish this year, made a ton of life long memories and friendships. Ice fishing has a short learning curve which makes it great for first timers. Matched with our exceptional fishing, location and scenery you have a World class Ice fishing destination.
The past couple of weeks has seen some phenomenal ice fishing in Spring like conditions. Although we are pulling the plug on our Ice fishing season, a couple of our lakes in higher elevations still have 14″ of ice. The reason for us pulling the plug on the Ice fishing season is simple, Coastal Cutthroat Trout. This time of year Cutthroat flood the streams in Pemberton, BC and all of our fishing guides are excited to see open water after a long Ice fishing season. If you have not experienced Cutthroat fishing, we highly recommend it.
State of the Art Ice Fishing Equipment is changing the Game
At this point we would also like to Thank our Pro Staff team Rapala. They hooked us up with some really amazing Ice fishing equipment that helped us stand out this year. A couple StrikeMaster Electric Ice Augers, Marcum Underwater Camera and enough Ice Fishing lures to support a small army. The Ice fishing game is always changing and Rapala is at the forefront
As you are all aware, Ice fishing methods have changed drastically over the past 20 years. The name of the game is mobility for today’s modern hardwater anglers. The days of drilling a hole, waiting and hoping that a fish will swim by have passed. Modern ice fishing equipment such as; portable sonar units, gas and electric powered augers, underwater cameras, an angler can conceivably drill and check hundreds of holes in a single day. When the fish stop biting where we are, anglers can move to the next hole, checking it with their sonar first to look for activity, and if there are no fish they will keep moving until fish are found. In addition, schools of fish tend to move around; so a hole may be productive for 10 minutes and then slow down to nothing for an hour before a school returns to that location. This “fish where the fish are” technique and ease of mobility increases the catch rate of any angler, because it minimizes the wait between bites, similar to “trolling” in summer. Rapala helps us be better at what we do, catching BIG fish consistently and putting smiles on our clients faces.
