Best lake fishing in British Columbia Anderson Lake
Best lake fishing in British Columbia Anderson Lake
Best lake fishing in British Columbia Anderson Lake. When it comes to lake fishing in British Columbia, Anderson lake is tough to beat. Not only is the fishing amazing for huge Rainbow Trout and Bull Trout the scenery is fantastic. Anderson Lake is located 40 minutes North of Pemberton, BC on portage road. Portage road pretty well dead ends at Anderson Lake, you can’t miss it. The lake itself is the same color as blue sky and the lake is very deep. Anderson lake has an average depth between 500′ – 600′ and reaches nearly 1000′ at its deepest point. The shoreline is very steep and there is limited shoreline access. If you are thinking about fishing Anderson Lake bring a boat suitable for big water because the lake is 17 miles long and if the wind picks up, you can be in big waves. Smaller boats will work, just don’t go venturing down the lake very far.
Fishing Anderson Lake
While trolling is the best way to get into trophy sized trout on Anderson lake, you can still catch beauties from the shore. A popular shore fishing spot on Anderson Lake is the creek mouth at Gates creek. This spot gets really hot with the appearance of Sockeye Salmon. The Sockeye are just starting to show up, so dust off those old fishing poles and swing by Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd in Pemberton at 1380 Birch Street. Come by get the local scoop and all your fishing gear, maps, lures and let us show you a few hot spots for fishing on the map that covers the front counter. If you are thinking about fishing Anderson Lake via boat make sure you bring your downriggers. This time of year we typically troll between 50′ – 75′ with a speed of 2 MPH. While trolling try using large trolling spoons, flatfish, apex lures and my favorite the Fraser River Rainbow plug. The Fraser River Rainbow Plug is only available at Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd. While fly fishing use large minnow patterns and egg patterns once the Sockeye Salmon start spawning.
