Salmon Fishing Pemberton British Columbia Canada. Just so you know you don’t have to beat yourself up in the Tidal waters of BC to Catch and release Salmon. Salmon fishing can be very good in the Pemberton Valley. Throughout the year we receive all 5 Pacific Salmon Runs. Starting in May with Chinook Salmon A.K.A. King Salmon. Chinook Salmon are the largest of the Pacific Salmon and can way as much as 100 lbs. The fishing for Chinook stays good until the end of June. At this point most of the Chinook Salmon have made it to there spawning areas and should not be disturbed. By the last week of July, Sockeye Salmon start to make an appearance. Last year Pemberton, British Columbia saw roughly 140,000 Sockeye Salmon enter the Birkenhead River alone. That’s not counting what the Lillooet River saw. August Pink Salmon show up in the Lower Lillooet River. Pink Salmon are the smallest of the Pacific Salmon and are great fun to catch on the fly. September brings the Massive Chum Salmon to town. Most of the Chum Salmon fishing is done also in the Lower Lillooet River. Chum Salmon average a staggering 20 – 30 Lbs and are known to be one of the hardest fighting Salmon in the World. Finally Coho Salmon show up in October and stay till Late December. These aren’t any ordinary Coho Salmon that visit Pemberton, they are known as Northern Coho Salmon. Northern Coho are very large and can weigh as much as 30 Lbs. I have personally caught numerous Coho from Pemberton in and around 25 Lbs.

The Trout fishing is also very good in Pemberton, British Columbia year-round. The Trout tend to stay close to the Salmon near Spawning season. Trout can be fooled quiet easily with the use of egg patterns while Fly Fishing.

I was born and raised in Pemberton, British Columbia. As a young boy, the small town of Pemberton didn't offer the youth many things other than great fishing. So every waking moment I would be seen fishing the local rivers and lakes on a daily basis. In 1976 My Father "Ivan Knowles" opened Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd, and how fitting he had his two boys running the shop who were both very avid in hunting, camping and most of all ... fishing. Everyday people from all over the World would come in and get the local scoop, buy their gear and be off to catch fish. Later on My local knowledge and ability to help people catch fish would come in handy. Soon I ventured away from the family business to work as a angling guide for 5 years. In those 5 years I stared in my own fishing show called ELITE FISHING which was seen by 100,000 people a week on Whistler Cable. I have made a name for myself as the man to see if you want to catch fish.
