Fishing Whistler the Birkenhead River has finally dropped down to a wadeable depth. Although the river may look shallow enough its uneven rocky bottom can make it challenging. The Birkenhead river is located 30 minutes North of Whistler. If you follow the signs toward the village of D’arcy you will cross the river on a well marked concrete Bridge. You will notice the River is clear, unlike the other glacial fed Rivers in the area. The Birkenhead River sees 4 of the 5 Pacific Salmon runs. These include Chinook, Sockeye, Pinks and Coho Salmon. Chum Salmon can be caught on the Lower Lillooet River. The Birkenhead river is a tributary to the Lillooet River. Best times to fish the Birkenhead River is between the months of July and November. Early Spring can be very good fishing for Coastal Cutthroat Trout. The Cutthroat are in the river from April to the end of May.

Later on My local knowledge and ability to help people catch fish would come in handy. Soon I ventured away from the family business to work as a angling guide for 5 years. In those 5 years I stared in my own fishing show called ELITE FISHING which was seen by 100,000 people a week on Whistler Cable. I have made a name for myself as the man to see if you want to catch fish.
