2021 Ice Fishing Season is Underway
The cold weather is finally here and the lakes are providing safe Ice for Ice Fishing. Typically our Ice fishing season starts December 15th, but that was not the case this ice fishing season. Our season started off with warm un-seasonal weather that was also loaded with moisture in the form of rain. Needless to say the rain has left along with the cloud cover and Mr. Winter is finally here. We have been offering ice fishing trips for the past week with fantastic success. The fish are biting and we have noticed a slight increase in size. These are both welcomed aspects to fishing, at least in my household.
Our company “Pemberton Fish Finder” has made a few changes to our Ice fishing trips this year to provide a safer Winter experience. Understandably, this year we will not be providing ice huts nor transportation. We cannot keep a safe distance while providing transportation or in an Ice Hut. Personally, we have not seen an outcry from our clients and most people understand if we all keep a safe distance, people are much safer. Ice Fishing is a safe outdoor activity. All equipment used is cleaned after each and every tour. The use of Face masks is always recommended if a safe distance of 6′ cannot be met. We take Covid-19 mandates very seriously.
Now that the winter weather is here we always recommend checking the local forecast a day before the trip. We also suggest that your vehicle have good snow tires and or cable chains. Obviously, if the weather is too poor for safe travels we will either refund or reschedule. Clients should always dress for subzero temperatures.
