Squamish BC fishing reports Chum and Coho Salmon fly fishing
Best Salmon fly fishing in the World
Squamish BC fishing reports Chum and Coho Salmon fly fishing. Enjoy fly fishing the Squamish River, Cheakamus River and Mamquam River in Squamish British Columbia. Both the Chum and Coho Salmon fishing season has just started in Squamish, BC and the fishing has been fantastic. In past years I have not seen the numbers of Salmon this strong, this early in the season. Although there is lots of Coho Salmon in the Rivers surrounding Squamish, expect to catch 10 – 1 Chum Salmon to every Coho. There are not too many fish in the World that put up a fight quite like a Chum Salmon. You can definitely tell the difference between a strike from a Coho Salmon to that of a Chum Salmon. Typically a Coho Salmon strike is very sharp, while a Chum Salmon strike is a lot softer and a bit sluggish. Both Salmon fight similar, I would give the edge to a Chum Salmon because of their shear size and power. Expect to be in an epic battle for nearly 20 minutes each and every Salmon while fly fishing.
Towards the end of the day most of my clients arms have been completely worn out. At this point they want to see the Pro put on a show. This day, it was only a matter of a couple casts and Boom I hooked and land this beautiful Chum Salmon above.
