Ice fishing Report Blackwater Lake March 2016
Ice fishing Report Blackwater Lake March 2016. While the days are getting longer and warmer the Ice as of March 1st, 2016 on Blackwater lake is 16″ thick. The Ice is still 16″ thick because Blackwater lake’s 2500 foot elevation. We had a little lull in the ice fishing, not sure what caused it. The typical 20 fish days that we were used to slowed to a dismal 4 – 6 fish Half day. In most books that is still good fishing, but in our books at the Pemberton Fish Finder we are used to having to bait hooks every 2 minutes. We are glad to say that the ice fishing has gotten good again because the fish are feeding. Like any lake in British Columbia they all have there moments of superb fishing followed by a lull. At Blackwater Lake you can expect to catch beautiful Rainbow Trout ranging in size from 10″ – 25″ and weighing as much as 6 LBS. Most Rainbow Trout in Blackwater lake are between 14″ – 18″ and weigh 1.5 LBS.
While Blackwater lake is known as a fishing destination it also holds some of the best Scenery that British Columbia has to offer. In every direction there are jagged mountain tops and dense forests. The silence is broken by the chirping of local song birds and a creek that feeds Blackwater lake. No need to worry about parking at Blackwater lake because majority of the time you will be the only one there. This takes me back to one of my favorite saying; “While the rest of the World is fighting it out in the isles, we’ll be spending the day a little differently” join us on an Ice fishing tour. At the Pemberton Fish Finder, we understand that not everyone has Ice fished or simply made a snowman. We don’t take the simple things in life for granted and love sharing our experience with our clients. Although there isn’t perfect snow for building snowmen everyday, but when there is you bet we will build one if the clients are interested. That my friend is that extra 10% or going that extra mile. It’s not just a scenic fishing adventure, we want you to take lifelong memories home to share with friends and family.
