Coho Salmon and Chum Salmon Fishing Trips in BC Canada

This year the Chum Salmon have entered the Rivers a bit earlier than typical. Typically you start seeing numbers worthy of fly fishing for starting the 3rd to last week of October. The Peak of the Chum Salmon run is typically the 15th of November. Coho Salmon start entering the Rivers by the last week of September and peak by mid November. The Coho Salmon will linger in the River until the New Years. Throughout the Salmon season you will bi-catch Bull Trout and Rainbow Trout. Trout are very easy to target with the use of both flesh flies and egg patterns.

We are very spoiled when it comes to fly fishing. For starters, Chum Salmon on average weigh between 18 – 20 LBS and can weigh as much as 30 LBS. Close behind them is the Coho Salmon. Coho Salmon average between 8 – 12 LBS and can weigh as much as 21 LBS. These are both very tough and resilient fish, making them a great sport fish for fly fishing. Both like similar flies in color and size, so you really don’t know which fish you are going to catch.
