Blackwater Lake Ice Fishing Ice Report
Blackwater Lake Ice Fishing Ice Report, the Ice at Blackwater lake is approximately 12″ thick, solid and has 1″ of snow on top of it. The Ice fishing at Blackwater lake is as good as I have ever seen. Just Yesterday we landed 9 Rainbow Trout in 1.5hours of fishing. The Trout we were catching ranged in size from 10″-19″ with the largest one putting on a reel screaming fight. The temperature at Blackwater Lake has been hovering around 0°c and holes drilled the day before were frozen over.
Blackwater Lake Ice Fishing Ice Report, While ice fishing Blackwater lake this time of year try fishing in shallower water between 5′- 8′.
Keep your bait moving! even if you are just twitching it. It is OK to stop for a couple of seconds between jigs but you will find that you will catch more fish when you are jigging. I have been having best luck while using the Zapper tipped with a Shrimp or Worm and Gum Ball Jigs have been working very good as well, tipped with a shrimp or Worm. The fishing has been best at the East end of the Lake. Look for areas where people have been fishing before if you do not know where to fish. If you find an area that has many holes new and old, my guess you have found a great area to fish 😉
