It’s Summer! Bring on the fly fishing, Heli Fishing and Boat season. The Rivers are finally starting to show signs of settling down form the Freshet. Our Professional Fly Fishing guides have been waiting patiently to get out and fish the local Rivers. Today was our first River fly fishing tour of the Summer and we were not disappointed “picture below”. This was just one of many fabulous Fish caught on the River today. As the Rivers continue to fall you will gain access to most of the rivers via walk and wade. On our excursions, we occasionally come across wildlife that include; Black Bear, Blacktail Deer and Bald Eagles. Large Lake Fishing in Whistler and Pemberton BC Canada

As the Lakes begin to Warm up, so does the Fishing for Kokanee, Rainbow Trout and Bull Trout. The past couple of weeks has seen some incredible fishing for Huge Bull Trout. As the Kokanee fishing picks up so does the Rainbow Trout fishing. What we have found in the past is that Kokanee and Rainbow Trout like similar lures and trolling speeds. This can cause some super exciting, high paced fishing. Although Rainbow Trout grow much larger than Kokanee “land locked Salmon” We prefer Kokanee for eating. Kokanee are known for their bright red flesh and are a sought after fish for eating.

Small Lake Fly Fishing in Whistler and Pemberton BC

We offer some of the best small lake fly fishing in BC. There is a good mix of stocked and wild Trout fishing lakes. Access to these lakes is always best via Float Tubes because there are not boat launches and the shoreline is thick with trees and shrubs. Shore fishing is not possible at many of the lakes we fish because there are no docks. For this reason, most of our lakes are very quiet and remote. If you are looking for the most remote lakes in Whistler, we have a fleet of Helicopters at our disposal. Helicopters can take you to lakes where fish have never seen hooks before. You can quite literally tie a leaf on a hook and catch fish with it. I’m not kidding.

I was born and raised in Pemberton, British Columbia. As a young boy, the small town of Pemberton didn't offer the youth many things other than great fishing. So every waking moment I would be seen fishing the local rivers and lakes on a daily basis. In 1976 My Father "Ivan Knowles" opened Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd, and how fitting he had his two boys running the shop who were both very avid in hunting, camping and most of all ... fishing. Everyday people from all over the World would come in and get the local scoop, buy their gear and be off to catch fish. Later on My local knowledge and ability to help people catch fish would come in handy. Soon I ventured away from the family business to work as a angling guide for 5 years. In those 5 years I stared in my own fishing show called ELITE FISHING which was seen by 100,000 people a week on Whistler Cable. I have made a name for myself as the man to see if you want to catch fish. Now back working at Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd, "The Family Business", I love working with my brother Sheridan and father Ivan. Also a proud member of the fisheries committee for Pemberton Wildlife Association - helping make local decisions on local fisheries.
