2016 Lost Lake ice fishing in Whistler BC.  Lost Lake is one of those quiet little lakes in Whistler that nobody knows about other than locals and adventurous travelers.  Located a short stroll from both the Fairmont Chateau Whistler and the Four Seasons in Whistler.  From the lake you get a great view of both Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains.  There is a fantastic groomed trail for x-country skiing and snowshoeing around the entire lake.  A warming hut and flush toilets are located at the South end of the lake.  Although there seems to be a lot of things going on around the lake, only Ice fishing is done on the frozen lake.  If you do not have a fishing rod in hand you will be turned around at the gate by the x-country and snowshoeing supervisors.  If you do plan on visiting Lost lake to Ice fish please try your best to avoid the groomed trails.

Ice fishing Lost Lake

Lost Lake is one of those lakes that you would have to be doing something completely wrong not to catch fish.  Lost lake is stocked annually with 1000 Rainbow Trout.  This keeps the fishing very good throughout the year.  Rainbow Trout in this lake range in size from 10″ – 18″ and weigh as much as 2.5 LBS.  Typically this lake provides non stop action which makes it fun for the most veteran of ice fisher persons.  This year while on Ice fishing charters with the Pemberton Fish Finder, we found the Fish Talk Zapper to be the most effective jig for catching Trout from this lake.  Tip the Zapper with either fresh salad shrimp or Worms for best results.  While jigging the Zappper jig near the bottom, within 6 inches.  Jig in series of 4 – 6 jigs then let sit for 4-5 seconds.  Trout typically strike the hook while it is falling between jigs or while it sits still.  The strikes are subtle so make sure to watch your rod tip for any movement.  What we have found works best for hooking finicky fish is while you are getting bites, lift your rod tip slowly and when you feel resistance set.  This has payed off huge for us this season.

No matter which lake you visit for Ice fishing it is always a good idea to do a few test holes prior to walking out on the ice to test the ice thickness.  Our Guides at the Pemberton Fish Finder make a habit of checking the ice each and every tour to make sure that everyone is safe.  For more information about Ice fishing in Whistler visit our website.  Rates and other fishing charters that we offer are also there.

We look forward to Ice fishing with you,
