How to catch Trout on Green Lake
There are definitely a few spots on Green lake for fishing that will increase your odds of catching. One worth mentioning is the mouth of the Fitzsimmons Creek. Fitzsimmons Creek is a large creek in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada, having its origins at the Fitzsimmons Glacier in the Garibaldi Ranges of the Coast Mountains. This cold glacial water bring a ton of feed and well oxygenated water to Green Lake making it a hot spot for fishing. Fish hold at the mouth of the creek grabbing everything that comes out of the creek in the form of feed. This is why fly fishing is a popular method of fishing on Green Lake. Simple, look to see what the fish are eating and replicate it with a fly pattern that looks just like it. Most of the fly patterns that you will be using this time of year on Green lake will include; Case caddis, Stonefly nymphs, large minnow patterns and large streamers. One of my favorite fly patterns for Green lake is a large Black bead headed wooly bugger. Occasionally you will get some great dry fly fishing, hatches typically happen early morning or late evening on Green Lake. Dry Flies you should try include; Brown Elk Hair Caddis, Hemingway Caddis and my favorite the G & H Sedge. All of these flies and fly fishing equipment are available at Spud Valley Sporting Goods ltd at 1380 Birch Street in downtown Pemberton, BC. Pemberton is 25 minutes North on highway 99, the drive is very scenic and there is fishing along the way.
