There is nothing more rewarding than fighting these athletic Rainbow Trout on a fly rod. While fly fishing on Blackwater Lake, you can expect to see many trout in the 10 through 16 inch range with a few large 20 inch plus fish being had.
The lake holds some great weed beds for the Fly Fisher to pull Dragonfly Nymphs and Woolly Bugger through on sinking tip lines. The larger fish are often caught while cruising the edges of these weeds. During the evening, trolling the lake with full sink lines and streamer patterns often results in some exciting fishing. Blackwater Lake is not exclusive to Fly Fishing, using Spinning gear is another great way to fish for the Rainbow Trout of this lake. While the traditional wedding band with a worm is a sure bet other lures like the Rooster Tail works well to catch the big boys.
