September Fishing Report Whistler and Pemberton British Columbia
September Fishing Report, Whistler and Pemberton British Columbia. The Rivers in Whistler and Pemberton are all showing a little color from Glacial melt. Water levels are normal for this time of year and water temperatures are hovering in the mid 50’s. Birkenhead River: Sockeye Salmon are entering the Birkenhead River in staggering numbers now. The run was about 2 weeks late from last year. Chinook Salmon are now spawning and should not be disturbed. There are tons of beautiful Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout and Dolly Varden with the odd Summer run Steelhead being caught. The use of egg patterns is highly recommended while fly fishing this time of year. Please be careful when crossing the river not to be walking in spawning beds. Always stay clear of spawning Salmon. If you are looking for a Fly Fishing guide for the Birkenhead River, look no further than the Pemberton Fish Finder. No one knows the Birkenhead River better than they do, Nobody!

Anderson Lake: Sockeye Salmon have been in Anderson Lake now for nearly a month. The Spawning grounds on Gates creek are about half full. The creek itself is full of Sockeye. Gates creek can be very good fishing for Rainbow Trout and Bull Trout while fly fishing. Anderson Lake has been fishing very good, Kokanee have been averaging between 12″-17″ this year. We have been catching the odd Kokanee in the 20″ class. The mature Bull Trout in Anderson Lake are now spawning in the local Tributaries and should be done by the end of this month. We have been catching lots of Rainbow trout between 14″ – 26″. There are still lots of smaller Bull Trout being caught 18″ – 24″. On average this Fall we have been putting anywhere from 20 – 30 Trout in the boat per tour. Not too shabby!
Mosquito Lake: This little lake always surprises me with the size of Rainbow Trout that are caught here. It is not uncommon to catch Rainbow Trout in this lake in and around 20″. This lake has great shore access and is most commonly fly fished. The fishing has been very good of late on Mosquito lake. The Trout are feeding heavily while getting ready for a long Winter.
