Freshwater Salmon Fishing Whistler and Pemberton BC Canada. The Chinook Salmon fishing season is now upon us here in Whistler and Pemberton. Chinook Salmon also known as King Salmon start there journey into freshwater in early May and peak by mid July. By Mid July they are in full spawn mode and are no longer targeted by the Pemberton Fish Finder. This leaves a small window to get out here and reel one of these beasts in. The Month of June holds the best fishing for Chinook Salmon in the Whistler and Pemberton areas. It is not uncommon to catch 6 of these beautiful Salmon an evening. Fishing for them has picked up drastically in the last week or so. Lately we have been hooking on average 2 a night and rarely landing one “they fight that hard”. Chinook Salmon are known for their huge powerful head shakes and reel burning runs. Fishing for these huge Salmon has been best first thing in the morning and in the evenings. While fishing you will see them jumping all around the boat, it is quite something to see. Chinook Salmon in the Pemberton area can reach a staggering 80lbs with an average of the mid 20’s. Trust me when you hook one of these you will know you have one on your line.
