Birkenhead River Fishing Report August 8 2013. The Birkenhead River water levels have remained consistent with a green tinge still showing signs of the heat and continuing with glacial run off. The Chinook salmon are still continuing their run upstream and this is providing good days for catching bull trout on the fly. Try egg patterns and be sure to try the egg sucking sculpin pattern (available at Spud Valley Sporting Goods). These two patterns have been most successful on heavy sink tips, particularly the egg sucking sculpin. While Rainbow Trout have been happy to take stonefly nymphs and caddis larvae(use a dry line with a long leader/tippet), we have been having success on larger dry flies, they have even been hitting strike indicators! Try anything large and dry. Check in next week for an update…
You do not need any experience Fly Fishing to enjoy your day with the Guides from Pemberton Fish Finder. Notice below Ben Davies of the Pemberton Fish Finder holds his clients fish safely while they pose for a picture. The fish is handled with the up most care and is released to be caught again in the future. This was our clients first day Fly Fishing and look what he caught. This was not his only fish but was definitely a picture worthy fish. Visit our website today to book a fishing tour in the Whistler or Pemberton area.
