Anderson Lake Fishing Report December 2015.  Anderson Lake holds some great Winter fishing for large Bull Trout, Rainbow Trout and Steelhead.  Most of the creeks that feed the lake are down to a trickle.  That being said the mouth of Gates creek holds some good fishing for resident Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout and Steelhead throughout the Winter months.  Trolling is still your best option for catching fish.  The highways maintenance crew typically keeps the boat launch sanded and salted, so launching your boat during the Winter months is not an issue.  Anderson Lake does not freeze during the Winter month because of it’s immense volume.  In certain spots Anderson Lake can reach a staggering 1000 feet in depth.

This time of year fish are less active because of the water temperature.  Trolling speeds are less aggressive and should be kept to 2 Mph or less for best success.  The use of Large spoons, Apex, Rapala’s and my favorite the Fraser River Rainbow should yield feeding Trout.  Don’t shy away from trolling the middle of the lake this time of year.  If you see bait fish feeding on the surface, stick to them like a rash.  Bait balls attract Large feeding fish, match the bait size, color and be ready.
