Birkenhead River Fishing Report March 2014

Birkenhead River Fishing Report March 2014

Birkenhead River Fishing Report March 2014,  The Birkenhead River is now free of ice and water levels are up a bit.  The water is starting to get a little greenish tint to it.  We are starting to see some Salmon fry lurking around.  This is usually a good sign for some Great fishing to come.  There is still a small amount of snow along the river banks, that should be gone within the next week or so.  The Pemberton Fish Finder will start guided fishing tours on the Birkenhead River April 1st. this year and will run until freshet.    Spring run off  typically starts by mid May and is over by mid July.  Once the freshet is over tours will commence.  Spring time fishing can be some of the best fly fishing the Birkenhead River holds for Coastal Cutthroat Trout, Rainbow Trout and Large Bull Trout.  While fly fishing this Spring try using Salmon fry imitations or small streamers.  All of these patterns are available at Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd.  In downtown Pemberton, BC at 1380 Birch Street.  Don’t miss out on this small window to book a fly fishing tour of a lifetime.  Book today http://pembertonfishfinder.com/

The pictures below are of the Birkenhead River taken March 18th, 2014.  As you can see the river is in great shape.  The Birkenhead River has some of the Best Fly fishing in British Columbia.  It is definitely the best Stream fishing in Whistler and Pemberton, BC.  There are lots of holding water and structure along its banks.  Remember to bring along a few Minnow Patterns 😉
