First Fish of the 2013\/14 Ice Fishing Season<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Ice Fishing in Pemberton and Whistler BC Canada<\/h2>\n

Ice Fishing in Pemberton and Whistler BC Canada. The first fish of the 2013\/14 Ice fishing<\/a> Season has been caught.\u00a0 A beautiful Rainbow Trout weighing in at 1.5lbs.\u00a0 The temperature was a brisk -14\u00b0c.\u00a0 The ice was forming very rapidly so we were continually having to clear ice from our holes.\u00a0 If you kept your bait out of the water too long it would freeze solid.\u00a0 We have checked a few lakes in the area with Blackwater lake having the most ice.\u00a0 Blackwater lake already has a staggering 8 inches of ice.\u00a0 The ice is clear black ice.\u00a0 Believe it or not the ice is so clear that you can see fish and the fish can see you.\u00a0 So we found that the fishing was quite better once we set up the ice hut.\u00a0 Then the fish could not see us and we could see them “really neat”.\u00a0 Also the use of an ice hut makes those cold days more comfortable.\u00a0 Our first tour of the year landed 4 Rainbow trout and missed numerous bites.\u00a0 The second tour landed 9 Rainbow Trout.\u00a0 Even our guides needed to shake a little rust.\u00a0 Hopefully catching more fish each and every tour is a trend for the season.<\/p>\n

What we have found to be working the best so far this year is a Zapper Jig “red in color” tipped with shrimp.\u00a0 Normally Trout like a longer more aggressive jigging motion.\u00a0 This year they have been hitting a more supple less aggressive jigging motion.\u00a0 Depth has not been an issue because we have been catching them at all depths.\u00a0 We even caught one yesterday when the hook was roughly 2 feet under the ice.\u00a0 My client actually saw this Rainbow take his hook, boy that was exciting!\u00a0 If you are looking for the Famous Zapper ice fishing jig look no further than Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd<\/a>. 1380 Birch Street in Downtown Pemberton, BC.<\/p>\n

I have made a name for myself as the man to see if you want to catch fish. Everyday people from all over the World would come in and get the local scoop, buy their gear and be off to catch fish. Later on My local knowledge and ability to help people catch fish would come in handy. Soon I ventured away from the family business to work as a angling guide for 5 years. In those 5 years I stared in my own fishing show called ELITE FISHING which was seen by 100,000 people a week on Whistler Cable. I have made a name for myself as the man to see if you want to catch fish. Now back working at Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd, \"The Family Business\", I love working with my brother Sheridan and father Ivan. Also a proud member of the fisheries committee for Pemberton Wildlife Association - helping make local decisions on local fisheries.
