The sun is shinning and the Salmon are biting. That’s always a great way to start off a paragraph when you are a fishing guide. This year we have had seasonally warmer temperatures and it has definitely effected the water clarity, as you can see by the picture above. Although, the water is a bit more turbid than usual we have not had any issues catching Pink Salmon this year. Being a fishing guide you have ample time to test new patterns, colors and weights. The knowledge from being on the river daily is what you are paying for, so you don’t have to do the work. Pink Salmon Fishing in Squamish BC<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As most of you already know, Pink Salmon visit our streams in Squamish, British Columbia on odd years. They come in huge schools, eating everything pink in their path. However, this year while the water clarity is different than typical we have been using different colors and patterns. As a result, don’t be shy, if what you are using is not working mix it up. As seen in picture below, in turbid waters we have found dark patterns are showing up a bit better. Where to fish for Pink Salmon in Squamish<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This year is a bit different than in the past. You are only allowed to fish a section of the Squamish River described in the Freshwater Salmon Supplement<\/a>. There is Zero retention, everything must be released. As a fishing guide, I’m just happy we got a season to enjoy this enormous run. Although, Pink Salmon are absolutely delicious we must be concerned about future runs so that our children can also enjoy. A very popular place to fish for Pink’s in Squamish is the Mamquam Bar. The Mamquam Bar is the section of the Squamish River, Downstream of the confluence of the Mamquam River. Be careful, there is no Salmon fishing in the actual Mamquam River because it is closed. The Map below clearly shows the Mamquam Bar. Most people park along the Dike beside the SPCA in Squamish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fishing Close to Vancouver BC Canada<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Squamish offers incredible year round fishing. Choose from multiple species that include: Steelhead, Coho Salmon, Chum Salmon, Chinook Salmon, Pink Salmon, Cutthroat Trout, Rainbow Trout and Enormous Bull Trout. While the Salmon fishing season typically starts by August and Wraps up by late December the Trout fill the gaps left throughout the entire year. Our Squamish Fishing<\/a> page goes more in depth on seasons and what you can expect to catch. Above all, Squamish is only 45 minutes North of Vancouver making it a great day trip idea. Not only is the fishing fabulous, but there is loads of great little restaurants offering lunch and dinner options. Most of the fishing spots are close to parking and of course there are options for the more adventurous. Hiring a fishing guide is a great idea if you are new to the area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later on My local knowledge and ability to help people catch fish would come in handy. Soon I ventured away from the family business to work as a angling guide for 5 years. In those 5 years I stared in my own fishing show called ELITE FISHING which was seen by 100,000 people a week on Whistler Cable. I have made a name for myself as the man to see if you want to catch fish.
