Trout Fishing Seasons<\/h2>\n

Whistler is home to many species of fish throughout the course of a year. During the summer months you can enjoy catching large trout that include; Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout, Cutthroat Trout and Kokanee .\u00a0 The best time to catch large Bull Trout is from the month of April to Mid July at this point the Rainbow Trout and Kokanee fishing takes off.\u00a0 It is not uncommon to see rainbow trout in excess of 5 lb.\u00a0 We have seen them as large as 15 lb in Lakes we fish.\u00a0 The Rainbow Trout fishing stays good until November at which point we start to see Steelhead.\u00a0\u00a0During the winter months trout fishing can be very good in both the river by means of fly fishing<\/a> and through the ice, while ice fishing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Salmon Fishing Trips<\/h2>\n

By\u00a0mid to end of August we start to see Sockeye Salmon runs.\u00a0 \u00a0The Sockeye Salmon run typically lasts a month and a half at which point we start to see Coho Salmon entering the rivers.\u00a0 Coho Salmon stay in the rivers surrounding Whistler, Squamish and Pemberton until Christmas.\u00a0 October, Chum Salmon make their way into the rivers and stay for a month and a half.\u00a0 This is a very fun Fishery, Chum Salmon are known to be one of the hardest fighting salmon in the world.\u00a0 They are very abundant in the rivers and are easily caught while fly fishing.\u00a0 Pink Salmon also visit the Rivers in Squamish on odd years between July and September.\u00a0 The Pink Salmon fishery is very popular and we recommend booking it a year in advance.\u00a0 Our Salmon Fishing<\/a> page is full of Useful information.<\/p>\n

Sturgeon Fishing Trips<\/h2>\n

Another fantastic fishery that we have to offer is Sturgeon fishing<\/a>.\u00a0 Our Sturgeon fishing season starts in May and finishes by November.\u00a0 Sturgeon are an extremely large fish that can crest the water.\u00a0 At times they are known to tail walk and put on a fantastic show.\u00a0 We have caught sturgeon as largest 12ft, typically in a tour you will see fish around 6 foot which make fantastic pictures to show your friends and family.<\/p>\n

In 1976 My Father \"Ivan Knowles\" opened Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd, and how fitting he had his two boys running the shop who were both very avid in hunting, camping and most of all ... fishing. Everyday people from all over the World would come in and get the local scoop, buy their gear and be off to catch fish. Later on My local knowledge and ability to help people catch fish would come in handy. Soon I ventured away from the family business to work as a angling guide for 5 years. In those 5 years I stared in my own fishing show called ELITE FISHING which was seen by 100,000 people a week on Whistler Cable. I have made a name for myself as the man to see if you want to catch fish. Now back working at Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd, \"The Family Business\", I love working with my brother Sheridan and father Ivan. Also a proud member of the fisheries committee for Pemberton Wildlife Association - helping make local decisions on local fisheries.
