Squamish River and Cheakamus River fishing report. Both the Squamish River and Cheakamus River have been fishing great of late.\u00a0 There are quite a few Coho Salmon starting to pile up in both Rivers.\u00a0 Pink Salmon are now coming to an end and the lingering smell of decaying Salmon is in the air.\u00a0 Believe it, October can offer some of the best Salmon fly fishing in the World right here in Squamish, BC.\u00a0 As the Coho Salmon start rolling in the Chum Salmon are close on their heels.\u00a0 In about 2 weeks the Chum Salmon run will flood the Squamish River, Cheakamus River and tributaries.\u00a0 Like I said earlier, this is a great time to do some Salmon fly fishing and it is our fly fishing guides<\/a> favorite time of year.\u00a0 The Squamish River and Tributaries see minimal fishing traffic due to the climate change.\u00a0 Morning temperatures can dip below freezing and reach double digits by afternoon.\u00a0 Days are shorter in length and the trees begin to lose there leaves, this is what Salmon fishing is all about.<\/p>\n

The fishing for Trout has been as good as I ever remember it.\u00a0 While fly fishing, try dead drifting both egg patterns and or flesh patterns.\u00a0 You will actually start to see more flesh in the Rivers surrounding Squamish as the Pink Salmon continue to decay.\u00a0 Egg patterns become more bleached out in color as the season progresses.\u00a0 Don’t worry it all starts again once the Chum Salmon and Coho Salmon start to spawn.\u00a0 For this reason I have included a how to fly fish trout beads by Zach Copland of Friday Night Flies in our next post.<\/p>\n

In 1976 My Father \"Ivan Knowles\" opened Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd, and how fitting he had his two boys running the shop who were both very avid in hunting, camping and most of all ... fishing. Everyday people from all over the World would come in and get the local scoop, buy their gear and be off to catch fish. Later on My local knowledge and ability to help people catch fish would come in handy. Soon I ventured away from the family business to work as a angling guide for 5 years. In those 5 years I stared in my own fishing show called ELITE FISHING which was seen by 100,000 people a week on Whistler Cable. I have made a name for myself as the man to see if you want to catch fish. Now back working at Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd, \"The Family Business\", I love working with my brother Sheridan and father Ivan. Also a proud member of the fisheries committee for Pemberton Wildlife Association - helping make local decisions on local fisheries.
