Coastal Cutthroat Trout Fly Fishing in British Columbia. \u00a0This is a very exciting time of year for the Pemberton Fish Finder. \u00a0With the arrival of Spring we welcome with open arms the Coastal Cutthroat Fly fishing season. \u00a0Why are we so excited? \u00a0Because these feisty sea run trout are like Steelhead, minus the size and Pemberton, British Columbia has some of the Best fly fishing for Coastal Cutthroat Trout in the World. \u00a0While the season is just getting started, we recommend that clients book now<\/a>. \u00a0The Coastal Cutthroat fishing season is relatively short. \u00a0It starts typically mid March and wraps up by the end of May. \u00a0Cutthroat in the Pemberton, BC area range in size from 12″ – 26″ and can weigh as much as 6.5 LBS. \u00a0Pound for pound Coastal Cutthroat Trout are one of the hardest fighting fish in the World. \u00a0They are ferocious feeders that travel in large schools of fish. \u00a0Simply put, swing your fly in their vicinity and they will let you know that they are there. \u00a0Boom!<\/p>\n

There are multiple Rivers in the Pemberton area that Coastal Cutthroat Trout can be caught. \u00a0Rivers that include; Lillooet River, Ryan River, Green River and the Birkenhead River. \u00a0These Rivers mentioned are the larger of the Rivers in the Pemberton area. \u00a0There are many other streams in Pemberton that hold great opportunities of catching these sought after Trout. \u00a0Coastal Cutthroat Trout typically hold in deep,\u00a0slow moving water that has a decent food source. \u00a0They feed heavily on Salmon fry, stonefly nymphs and case caddis.<\/p>\n

Fly fishing for Cutthroat can be very easy at times when you have the right equipment. \u00a0Start off with a 5 -6wt fly rod, type 3 sink tip and use 8′ – 9′ of 6 LB tippet. \u00a0The fly above is called the Motto Minnow. \u00a0It replicates a\u00a0Salmon fry perfectly. \u00a0These flies are available at Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd. at 1380 Birch street in downtown Pemberton, BC. \u00a0One thing I will add is that if you catch 1 Cutthroat, there will be more there. \u00a0Cutthroat never travel alone, It might be a short bus but there will be other passengers.<\/p>\n

Later on My local knowledge and ability to help people catch fish would come in handy. Soon I ventured away from the family business to work as a angling guide for 5 years. In those 5 years I stared in my own fishing show called ELITE FISHING which was seen by 100,000 people a week on Whistler Cable. I have made a name for myself as the man to see if you want to catch fish.
