2016 Pemberton Winterfest Ice Fishing Derby. \u00a0It’s that time of year again! \u00a0We are super excited to announce the schedule for the 2016 Pemberton Winter Festival. \u00a0This year marks the 3rd annual Pemberton Winterfest Ice Fishing Derby. \u00a0We have made a few changes this year because of changes to the fishing regulations on One Mile Lake. \u00a0This year both kids and adults will be able to participate. \u00a0Both Spud Valley Sporting Goods and the Pemberton Fish Finder will be hosting the event and as usual there will be trophies and lots of prizes to be won. \u00a0Make sure you bring your kids out to enjoy a fun day on the ice! \u00a0There will be a few ice fishing rod combos available but we encourage people to bring there own gear. \u00a0Spud Valley Sporting Goods located at 1380 Birch Street in downtown Pemberton, BC is well equipped with all of your ice fishing needs. \u00a0We will have a couple gas powered augers with us so don’t worry about finding a hole to ice fish from. \u00a0Make sure that all participants 16 years and older hold a valid BC Freshwater Fishing License. \u00a0Fishing Licenses are available online. \u00a0We will definitely need a few volunteers to help host this event this year, we typically see 200 participants. \u00a0If you are interested volunteering please email Melissa at info@pembertonfishfinder.com<\/p>\n

This year the we have a warm up on Saturday January 23rd, 2016. \u00a0This day people are free to find a lucky hole, test different baits and receive helpful ice fishing tips from one of our professional ice fishing guides from the Pemberton Fish Finder. \u00a0The Ice Fishing Derby is on Sunday January 24th, 2016 from 10 AM – 3 PM<\/strong>. \u00a0The Pemberton Winterfest Ice Fishing Derby is a free event and everyone is welcome to participate.<\/p>\n

Last years first and second place winner’s fish were caught on the famous Zapper ice fishing jig. \u00a0The Zapper is only available at Spud Valley Sporting Goods<\/a>. \u00a0Best of luck to all that participate and we look forward to ice fishing with you.<\/p>\n

In 1976 My Father \"Ivan Knowles\" opened Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd, and how fitting he had his two boys running the shop who were both very avid in hunting, camping and most of all ... fishing. Everyday people from all over the World would come in and get the local scoop, buy their gear and be off to catch fish. Later on My local knowledge and ability to help people catch fish would come in handy. Soon I ventured away from the family business to work as a angling guide for 5 years. In those 5 years I stared in my own fishing show called ELITE FISHING which was seen by 100,000 people a week on Whistler Cable. I have made a name for myself as the man to see if you want to catch fish. Now back working at Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd, \"The Family Business\", I love working with my brother Sheridan and father Ivan.
