Trophy Trout Fishing Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park. \u00a0Birkenhead Lake is a very special lake. \u00a0You will not find a more scenic, clean and well designed Provincial park in British Columbia. \u00a0There is a great trail network, picnic area and a boat launch with a well kept dock. \u00a0They have just recently replaced all of there picnic tables in each campground. \u00a0Birkenhead Lake provincial park is a great place to take families, there is lots for kids to do. \u00a0They have a swimming area protected by buoys and plenty of shore access for fishing. \u00a0The campground closes after the Thanksgiving long weekend, but the overflow campground will remain open til snow flies. \u00a0At this point the gate into the park will be closed and locked.<\/p>\n

Trophy Trout Fishing Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park<\/h2>\n

Birkenhead Lake hold incredible year round fishing<\/a>. \u00a0There are 2 major creeks that feed the lake, Sockeye creek and Phelix creek. \u00a0Phelix creek runs through the middle of the campround and enters the lake at the North end. \u00a0Sockeye creek enters the lake half way down on the western shore. \u00a0Both of these creeks have great fishing at the mouth of them. \u00a0The lake is full of Kokanee, Rainbow Trout and Bull Trout. \u00a0The Bull Trout are protected in this lake and are considered a trophy species. \u00a0Bull Trout can reach a staggering 20 lbs in Birkenhead Lake and are easily caught. \u00a0Rainbow trout are very abundant in the lake and can reach 10 lbs. \u00a0Kokanee in the lake usually will not grow much larger\u00a0than 12″. \u00a0Most of the Kokanee in the lake are very small and are a great food source for the larger predatory Trout. \u00a0This being said if you want to catch big Trout in this lake you want to resemble a wounded Kokanee. \u00a0Makes sense, big fish eat little fish as the story goes. \u00a0There is plenty of shoreline structure for small fish to hide. \u00a0The deepest point in the lake only reaches 125′. \u00a0This makes the lake easily trolled without the use of downriggers. \u00a0I have had great success using willow leafs trailed by a small spoon or wedding band. \u00a0My favorite lure is definitely the Fraser River Rainbow<\/a>, which is only available at Spud Valley Sporting Goods ltd<\/a> at 1380 Birch street in Pemberton, BC. \u00a0The boys at the shop fish the lake regularly and don’t mind sharing a few local tips.<\/p>\n

Everyday people from all over the World would come in and get the local scoop, buy their gear and be off to catch fish. Later on My local knowledge and ability to help people catch fish would come in handy. Soon I ventured away from the family business to work as a angling guide for 5 years. In those 5 years I stared in my own fishing show called ELITE FISHING which was seen by 100,000 people a week on Whistler Cable. I have made a name for myself as the man to see if you want to catch fish. Now back working at Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd, \"The Family Business\", I love working with my brother Sheridan and father Ivan.
