Fly fishing Green lake Whistler BC. \u00a0Green Lake is located on the North side of Whistler. \u00a0It has a very distinct emerald color\u00a0that is caused by glacial till. \u00a0Green lake holds the largest fish of any lakes in Whistler making it a popular fishing spot for Anglers and Guides. \u00a0There are 3 major creeks that feed the lake at the South end. \u00a019 mile creek, Fitzsimmons creek and the river of Golden Dreams. \u00a0The River that exits the lake at the North end is called Green River. \u00a0All of these spots that I have mentioned have incredible Bull Trout and Rainbow Trout fishing. \u00a0Rainbow Trout can grown to 3 lbs and Bull Trout can reach 7 lbs. \u00a0Popular methods of fishing on Green lake include Trolling, Fly Fishing and Spin Casting. \u00a0 Always check the fishing regulations prior to fishing this lake, there are numerous regulations put in place.<\/p>\n

While fishing Green lake look for creeks that feed the lake. \u00a0These spots tend to hold the most fish because the creeks bring a steady flow of food and well oxygenated water. \u00a0Remember that Green lake is one of the largest lakes in Whistler, so I do not recommend the use of float tubes to gain access to the lake. \u00a0 Pontoon boats are much more suited to this large lake or boats 12′ or greater with suitable power. \u00a0There is a great public boat launch off of Emerald drive then turn left on to Summer lane.<\/p>\n

Fly fishing Green lake Whistler BC<\/h2>\n

Fly Fishing Green Lake, try using minnow and streamer patterns this time of year. \u00a0We also had great success with Wooly buggers, Stoneflies, leeches and Pumpkin heads. \u00a0On the dry flies try using Mayflies, Black Ants, Adult stoneflies and Tri-winged Sedges. \u00a0If you are not having luck at the creek mouths try trolling a fly with a type 3 or 4 sinking line. \u00a0This has paid off huge for us in the past.<\/p>\n

As a young boy, the small town of Pemberton didn't offer the youth many things other than great fishing. So every waking moment I would be seen fishing the local rivers and lakes on a daily basis. In 1976 My Father \"Ivan Knowles\" opened Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd, and how fitting he had his two boys running the shop who were both very avid in hunting, camping and most of all ... fishing. Everyday people from all over the World would come in and get the local scoop, buy their gear and be off to catch fish. Later on My local knowledge and ability to help people catch fish would come in handy. Soon I ventured away from the family business to work as a angling guide for 5 years. In those 5 years I stared in my own fishing show called ELITE FISHING which was seen by 100,000 people a week on Whistler Cable. I have made a name for myself as the man to see if you want to catch fish. Now back working at Spud Valley Sporting Goods Ltd, \"The Family Business\", I love working with my brother Sheridan and father Ivan. Also a proud member of the fisheries committee for Pemberton Wildlife Association - helping make local decisions on local fisheries.
